| In 1980 the Senior team got the new decade
of to a good start when they won the Premiership to complete the hat
trick of wins begun in 1979. The Reserve team won flags in both 1980 and
1981 to bring their success to five flags in five years. Then, however,
a period of decline set in and with the exception of a brief finals
appearance in the 1983 First Semi Final, the Club's Senior team would
not play a part in finals action until 1987.
The Club's Junior team brought premiership success to the Club in 1985 and that team would provide the building blocks for later Senior team success. That success came at the end of the decade when, in 1989, both the Senior and Junior teams won premierships while the Reserves finished in third place. For the Senior team, another hat trick of premiership glory was beckoning. |
